OUR HISTORY

When the Company was founded back in 1998 we named her Artemis Natural Products after the Greek Goddess, the vision was to focus on natural and organic products such as baby food, cotton clothing, wooden toys and natural skincare for children and the like.

However, over the last number of years our company has grown and added fantastic new brands to our founding brand NUK, brands like, Bambino Mio – reusable cotton nappies, Korbell – hygienic nappy disposal system, Lactaze – an enzyme supplement supporting lactose digestion, and most recently Owlet – a modern baby monitor to give every parent piece of mind and an overview of their baby’s wellbeing. This has resulted in our name becoming a little ‘misleading’. Due to this, a new, more relevant name without losing our heritage was required, 2011 was a time of taking a long hard look at who we are and what we do and so Artemis Brands was born.

What is the meaning behind Artemis?

In Greek mythology, Artemis is the daughter of Leto and Zeus, and the twin of Apollo. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, the moon, childbirth and fertility.

She was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified with Selene (goddess of the moon).

Known as the protector, she helped in protecting and seeing to the well-being of her loved ones, also their safety and reproduction. She was armed with a bow and arrows which were made by Hephaestus and the Cyclopes.
